Mary:
If William Lewis was born 30 Dec 1835, he would not have reached 15 years by
the time of the 1850 census. The one you mentioned is 19 years.
The Electa WILCOX you mention, more than likely spelled her name with 2 LL's
(WILLCOX). At least that is the spelling in Marriage Records to Samuel
LEWIS, 1803-1850 Gallia County, "Compiler, Michael L. Trowbridge, Gallia
County Historical Society". Her father Alfred's gravestone has the surname
spelled WILLCOX, also. Something to keep in mind in your research.
Good luck.

I have just gone over the 1850 Vinton County Census, and need some help from
someone to verify what William Lewis this is.
Here is a little bit on my Lewis's.
In 1850, Aaron and Hanna Lewis are enumerated in the Wapello County, Iowa
census with their daughter Rebecca Lewis Rupe and son-in-law, John Henry
Rupe. Their children are grown and married with children of their own.
They did go back to Ohio to die and be buried there.
They have 3 named children, (I know there were more older children) Rebecca
b. 1804, Prudence b. 1807 m. William Huntley, and Samuel b. 1810 m. Electa
Wilcox.
Samuel had a son William Lewis b. 12/30/1835, m. Sarah Jane Cardwell.
Getting to my question;
1850 Vinton Co, there is a William Lewis age 19, a laborer in the William
Martin Household.
William Martin age 47, farmer b. KY
Catherine Martin age 50 b. KY
William Lewis 19, Laborer b. OH
Isaac Sowards age 4 b. Ohio
David A Sowards age 3 b. Ohio
Who s this William Lewis? Is he my Samuel Lewis's son? Who are these
Martins? Who are these Sowards children?
Can anyone help me identify my Lewis's in that area? John Wilcox has been
a tremendous help to me with them, but now I would like to identify and
document what he has sent me and what little I can find on them.
Thanks
Mary
