Elijah And Jane Fowler are buried in the Good Hope Baptist Cemetery, in Guyan
Township, Gallia Co., OH. That is about a half mile north of Ohio Rt 218,
near where they lived.
Grave markers show:

Jane b. 15 Mar 1787, d. 13 Sep 1841
Accumulation of facts from 1820, 1830, & 1840 census of Guyan Township,
Gallia Co. marriage records, the Hardesty History of Gallia Co., and other
sources, suggest that their children include:
1) Mary (Polly) b. 7 Dec 1810, (mar. Samuel Lewis 10 Oct 1833 GAllia Co Vol
1, pg 237), d. 10 Jan 1836, Good Hope Cem. (Marriage not proven, could be a
daughter of William. Cem. marker shows Mary Fowler, d/o of E. & J.)

I have copy of a deed dated 1 Nov 1845, where the following heirs of Elijah
Fowler signed to transfer real estate owned by Elijah: Harrison and Arraminta
Fowler, Jesse and Martha Rose, John B and Elizabeth Martt, Henry and Virginia
Carne, John and Caroline Sampson, Brice H and Mahala Sheets, John H and Jane
Sheets, and Elijah Fowler. They sold their interest in 68.5 acres in Guyan
Township for $200, to their brother Franklin Fowler.
Census records also show a William Fowler, possibly a brother of Elijah, who
also married in Kanawha Co., VA, and was in Guyan Twp in 1820. Census shows
him with a large family.
I have visited Good Hope Cemetery, and have photos of some stones.
Sheets family tendency to all use the same names for children, is a cause for
confusion when trying to sort them out.
I have never had the time to do any extensive digging into VA records, to try
to determine the origins of Elijah and Jane.
Caroline Fowler and John Sampson were residents of Mason Twp in Lawrence Co.,
and the parents of Martha Jane Sampson. She married Rufus Benton Ellcessor in
Lawrence Co in 1867. They were the parents of John F Ellcessor, who was my
great grandfather.
I do have census entries giving names of some of the children of the Fowler
heirs named above, but the only one from any of the lines that I am acquainted
with, had a grandson, Bryan Fowler, who graduated from Symmes Valley H.S. with
my daughter, in 1995.
Would be happy to hear from other descendants of Elijah and Jane.
