Fred Sorg Hurt In Auto Mishap

With his right leg badly broken and his face and body cut and bruised. Fred Sorg of this city was brought to the Holzer Hospital late Wednesday afternoon.
Sorg's car, with Harley Johnson of Locust St. at the wheel, ran off Route 7 a mile or so above Swan Creek and turned over three times.
Johnson was treated at the hospital but was soon discharged. He hurt his back and bruised his shoulders.
Sorg, who is one of the constables of Gallipolis Twp. although never active as such, has no recollection of the accident, he told a Tribune reporter this morning.
The fracture is in the right knee and the bones were badly mashed, it is said.

World War Soldier Dies

Death Hastened By Hurts Received Recently - Funeral At 10 Wednesday

Fred A. Sorg, constable, World War veteran, and familiar figure about town, died at the Holzer Hospital at 1:30 Sunday afternoon.
Sorg, was seriously hurt in an accident on lower Route 7 some weeks ago. He had been in poor health a long time, and there had been a turn for the worse before the accident. He had heart trouble, which had been aggravated by attacks of asthma. In the accident one kneecap was badly fractured.
Sorg was a quiet, modest, likable fellow active in the affairs of the Legion and the D,A.V. He was born and reared here and last Monday, July 4th, was his 47th. birthday.
On Sep. 20, 1917 he married Maude Brannen, a daughter of William Brannen and she died here on July 13, last year. He is survived by his father, A.R. Sorg, who lives in Oklahoma, and a half brother, James Meige, who is in a CCC camp at Sharples, W. Va.
Fred enlisted for World War service and served as a truck driver overseas for two months before the Armistice and a slightly longer period after that.
Funeral Services will be conducted by Rev. George Sagen at the First Baptist Church at 10 o'clock Wednesday, with Legionnaires and American Mechanics taking part. Burial in Pine St Cemetery by George J. Wetherholt & Sons.
