No, I never heard the story of Lew Davis. Sure sounds interesting !

Agreed about the ancestors being responsible for themselves, that seems
to be so evident but so many do not want to talk about the past because
of such things.

My Dad's sister, still living at alost 100 years of age, is one of
those. I have asked her about things and she just shuts up. I think she
is still embarassed that her father was a bastard !

LOL, not me....both my grandfathers were bastards. Nothing for me to be
ashamed about, and from what I have seen, not so rare in those times !!!
