GALLIA
A deadened hickory tree fell one day recently and killed a yoke of cattle
for Col. Montgomery, in Ohio township.
The smoke-house of Mr. E. N. Ridgeway, of Raccoon township, was
recently burglarized and its contents carried off.
The Gallipolis Journal says, the members of the Methodist Church of
this city hope to have their church finished and the dedication to take
place on the last Sunday in June.
The ware-house of Mr. G. B. Little, at Sprinkle's Mill, this county, was
struck by lightning recently, exploding a keg of powder therein; the
building notwithstanding was not seriously damaged.
The Gallia County Republican Convention met in Gallipolis, on Saturday,
and appointed delegates to the Congressional Convention to be held at
Portsmouth, and expressed, by resolution, their first choice to be Hon.
H. S. Neal.
