Hi guys,

I've been doing some thinking, and got to wondering if there's any family or historic importance to the name Latrelle. Yesterday while I was visiting the Briggs Library in Ironton I found a birth record for George L. Hixon. In the book, So That Was Waterloo, I discovered the L apparently stood for Latrelle. Now I'm wondering what caused him to be named Latrelle?

Also, are the Lawrence County deed books for say the turn of the 20th century located at the courthouse, in Ironton? I only saw books up to about 1893 at the library.

The Lawrence Register site has two hits for Latrell, one a Latrelle Barnett? age 8 1910 census Mason Twp., and also there is a Latrelle Warne who married a Lena L. Fossett (Lawrence County Marriages book 25). But I don't see any connection between them and my Hixon clan -- though I may be mistaken.

Does anyone know if this name has any significance to any local or world events, or does anyone know of a Latrelle surname in the immediate area of Gallia/Lawrence Counties? I've had major brick walls collapse by going after middle names as family surnames, so I thought I'd take this tactic. :-)

My George Latrelle Hixon was born March 5, 1889 Symmes, Waterloo, Lawrence County, Ohio to George F. and Alcinda Morgan Hixon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Linda Trent
