Thanks to a subscriber to the Ancestry.Com message boards I was able to “fill in the blanks” for my great-great-grandmother, Anna M. Owen. With that done, I am moving back one generation to the mother-in-law of Anna M. Owen, my great-great-great-grandmother, Mercy Ann Jackson.

I am needing birth information - both date and place - for Mercy Ann Jackson - wife of Augustus Gilbert, Jr. They were married in 1829 in Geauga County. My guess is that she was also born in the Western Reserve area of Ohio - but, that is only a guess. Following are statistics for her spouse and descendants. Any help would be appreciated.

My g-g-g-great-grandfather Augustus GILBERT JR was born 8 Jun 1800 in Newbury, Geauga, Ohio. He died 29 Sep 1853. He married Mercy Ann JACKSON on 15 Nov 1829 in Newbury, Geauga, Ohio. Mercy died 12 Feb 1885.

They had the following children:

James H GILBERT was born 6 Nov 1830 in Cleveland, Geauga, Ohio. He died Aft 1908.
James married Harriet BARNES 7 Mar 1865 in Geauga, Ohio.

Maria L. GILBERT was born 15 May 1833 in Cleveland, Geauga, Ohio. She died Aft 1908.
Maria married William WELSH 24 Feb 1857 in Geauga, Ohio.

Lawson A. GILBERT was born 14 Jun 1835 in Newbury, Geauga, Ohio. He died Bef 1908.
Lawson married Althen BROOKS 6 Jul 1857.

Harrison GILBERT was born 17 Sep 1837 in Newbury, Geauga, Ohio. He died 26 Sep 1863.

Eliza GILBERT was born 4 Oct 1840 in Newbury, Geauga, Ohio. She died 7 Jan 1853.

Julia GILBERT was born 15 Apr 1842 in Newbury, Geauga, Ohio. She died Bef 1908.
Julia married Miles CRAFTS 9 Feb 1864 in Geauga, Ohio.

Eleanor GILBERT was born 2 Apr 1844 in Newbury, Geauga, Ohio.
Eleanor married George L. MAYNARD 28 Aug 1864 in Geauga, Ohio.

Arthur B. GILBERT was born 30 May 1845 in Newbury, Geauga, Ohio. He died 1931 in Newton, Kansas.
Arthur married Lovinga GLENDENNING 9 Feb 1868 in Troy, Ohio.

Newton L. GILBERT was born 30 Jan 1847 in Newbury, Geauga, Ohio. He died Jun 1882. The cause of death was Killed between railroad cars while brakeman near Austin Station June 1882. .
Newton married Emma ROBINSON 21 Mar 1876.

Wallace Burdet GILBERT was born 27 Jun 1849. He died 28 Jul 1908.


My g-g-grandfather, Wallace Burdet GILBERT. was born 27 Jun 1849 in Newbury, Geauga, Ohio. He died 28 Jul 1908 in Austin, Chicago, Cook, Illinois. Wallace married Anna M. OWEN 30 Dec 1876 in Cook, Illinois. Anna was born Apr 1853 in New York.
