In addition to Alice's suggestion of contacting the Chardon Library, there is
also the option of checking with the Ohio Historical Society and having your
own library order newspaper microfilm from them on inter-library loan. Go to
their website and click on the "resources" link, then go to the newspaper
index. The direct address is:

http://www.ohiohistory.org/resource/database/news.html

They have an extensive selection of microfilmed newspapers from all over
Ohio, many of which are available via inter-library loan. Old newspapers are a
fascinating source of information, not just for obituaries but also for the
local news (or one might say "gossip") columns. I have found that while an
obituary often appears within days of the death date, sometimes they did not appear
for several weeks. If an obituary is not found where you expect it, it's
often a good idea to check not just the week of the death but several weeks
afterward.

Good luck!
