Hi Richard and List,
I wondered if anyone has a copy of something like "A History of Geauga County" which I read several years ago. This should have some information on George Conrad, but you may already know it. My HOPKINS line came to Geauga County from Western New York and it may be of interest to you how they accomplished that. They went down the river through Pittsburg. then all the way south to Marietta. Can't remember the names of the rivers. From Marietta they went north to Licking Co. and then overland to Parkman. Somewhere I got the idea that our HOPKINS were involved in building the grain mills at Parkman. I am wondering if this was the "typical route" to northeast Ohio -- perhaps because no roads had been built through the wilderness to the Connecicut Western Reserve. If this is the case, you might find the parents of George Conrad lived in Licking Co. or neighboring county before coming to Geauga.
