Lake County Genealogical Society will meet Thursday 27 April 2006
at 10:00 am at Morley Library, 184 Phelps St., Painesville, OH 44077.
Rick Harper is coming from Colorado and will be the guest speaker. The
topic will be the "Harper family in the 18th Century." He will be
covering general family movements, as well as some of the specific
events. Also covered will be how the family history has been discovered
and is being written. The Harper family was in current Lake, Ashtabula,
Geauga and Cuyahoga counties very early in Western Reserve history.
Rick Harper is the James Harper Family Historian. He has been
conducting research on the family for the past 40 years and has
concentrated his studies on the 18th Century. Business travel during his
career in the Communications Industry allowed him to spend off hours in
research libraries and other depositories, across the Northeast, in order
to assemble primary evidence of family events. He has spoken at each of
the Harper reunions since 1998 and has taught 18th Century American
History, as a volunteer, in middle schools for the past 18 years. Some
selected portions of his research can be found on the family web site he
maintains at:
