Dear Ma Dark,
How sad that you feel a need to be negative and see no reason to be THANKFUL
that the Pilgrims (Separatists) came to America. Less than 1/2 of the
Pilgrims survived the first winter including one of my ancestors, but still
they found many reasons to be thankful to God. They showed their gratitude
and friendship by a three day celebration of feasting and games with the
Indians (native Americans). Although far from perfect, yet the Pilgrims
never broke their treaty with the Indians, which is unique. Squanto was the
key to their survival because he taught these merchants how to grow Ameri
plants, how to trap, and etc; Squanto had every reason to be bitter to the
English. He spoke English because he had been made a slave on English ships
not only once, but twice. Squanto's tribe including his family were wiped
out unintensionally by the "white man's diseases". Yet this wonderful
example to us all had compassion and chose not only to help them survive,
but to live with the Pilgrims for the rest of his life. How very sad that
you see the Dark instead of the light!!!
