Seeking information on JAMES COTTON. He owned a plantation
in Claiborne Co. MS. Family legend states that he freed some of
his slaves (why only some?), bought land in Xenia, Greene Co. OH
and brought them there and gave them the land. I have a letter he
wrote in 1859 from Xenia so I know he was there. Can anyone
substantiate this family legend?
