I am a new subscriber to this list and wish to throw something in the mix
right away! :)
I recently received two old photo albums from my grandmother in Dayton, OH.
They contain family pictures from the turn of the century up to the 1970s.
The pros and cons of these albums:
PRO: They are full of pictures of Greene County and Montgomery County people.
CON: Almost none of the pictures are labeled.
I can readily recognize my family members--it starts at my great-grandmother,
Katherine Moloney Schardt and continues down to my generation. However, there
is one group photo that was labeled in pencil. Along with my principal
family, Schardt, there are 3 other surnames: Collier, Weaver, and something
that looks like Jeffray or Jeffrey. I"m not certain about that yet, I'll have
to study it more closely but the writing is incredibly cramped.
My mother remembers the name Collier being mentioned in connection with the
Schardt family, so I am assuming it is a branch of cousins.
Several other photos are of a bread truck with the name "KRUG'S BREAD" on the
side. There is another photo of truck that says "SAUM and SON,
Confectioner's, Fountain Supplies".
Do any of these sound familiar? If any of you listers have *any* connection,
no matter how tiny, to any of these names, please let me know! I am putting
together a *huge* puzzle here and need many more pieces!
Thanks a bunch!
Hayes Schardt
There are no mistakes. The events we bring on ourselves, no matter how
unpleasant, are necessary in order to learn what we need to learn; whatever
steps we take, they're necessary to reach the places we have chosen to go.
