I am in need of help for Greene County. It appears that John A. Hoop
found his way to Ceasers Creek near Xenia by May of 1803. He is listed on
numerous tax lists, and census through 1840. His shown as participating in
the war of 1812 and is buried in Harbisons Lot, Woodland, Ohio. The date
in Robinsons History says he was born in 1758. I need someone to go out
to the headstone and see if it really says "1758" or if it could just be
"1768". My belief is that John is the son of George Hoop of Bedford (Fulton)
Co., Pa. and the tax records support a birth date of 1768, as do the census
records of Greene County for the years 1830 & 1840. Additionally there is
an "R. Hoop" a 50 year old female living with the Harbisan family in the
1850 census, John's widow ? Any help or direction will be appreciated.
