OLD RESIDENT OF XENIA PASSES AWAY
Jacob GLOSSINGER, a respected German citizen dies at ripe old age of
76 years.
Jacob GLOSSINGER, for many years an honored and respected citizen of
Xenia, passed away Thursday evening at his home on Whiteman Street. His
death came after a long illness which confined him to his home during the
past year. For a number of years he was afflicted with asthma, which
developed into a complication of diseases, causing his demise.
The deceased was born in Germany, October 16, 1834, and had thus
reached the ripe old age of nearly 77 years at the time of his death. He
emigrated to America in 1856, settling in New Orleans. He remained there
for a year, after which he came to Xenia. remaining here ever since. For
a number of years he was in business in Xenia, but during the last ten
years or more He lived a retired life.
In 1863 he was united in marriage with Katherine HORNICK who departed
this life in 1895. He is survived by his second wife, who before marriage
was Anna AMBORN, of Cincinnati, and four children as follows: William
GLOSSINGER, of East Main Street, Jacob, of Dayton, and Joseph and Miss
Lillian, at home.
The funeral will take place at the St. Brigids Church, of which the
deceased was a faithful member at 8:30 o'clock Monday morning. Burial
will be at the Catholic Cemetery.
