Your story implyies that there WAS a connection between what is now Trinity UCC and Fairfield cemetery, in spite of what the Greene Co. librarian said. Perhaps he was speaking of lack of geographical connection. But the church may own both pieces of property and use them both. Or at least have owned the cemetery at the time Wendy speaks of. It is possible that since then the church has sold the cemetery and it is a public cemetery. That would make the librarian technically correct even though Wendy's memories and Ann's papers are also correct.

I think it's pretty neat that Ann was able to learn that her grandfather's church still exists, even though it now has a different name and denomination. Real detective work on her part!!

Trinity UCC is where I grew up & got baptized & confirmed. My mom is
still a member. My aunt (my mom's baby sister) was buried in Fairfield
Cemetery in 1927 (she was premature & lived 6 weeks). There was a family
in the area who had a tragedy & needed a grave for at least one kid maybe
more (think it was a fire) - anyway my grandparents donated my aunt's
grave so they had to disinter her to move the casket. My grandmother
insisted that she wanted to see her baby one last time (how gruesome is
that!).

I live in Texas now but know of the ministers that have been there since
the 50s.

Gilbert Young (mentioned in a previous post) was the husband of a good
friend of my grandparents. His wife, Hattie, was a dear sweet lady who
was so sweet to me when I was a child.
