We have Hannah Moore born November 4, 1802, probably in Fayette County,
PA. She married Thomas Clark also from western PA. They arrived in
Madison Township, Perry County in 1836, with several children. Hannah
was a remarkable woman. She made her mark in Perry County by helping to
organize and reorganize Mt. Perry's Methodist Episcopal church.
Thomas died in 1855 and Hanna left her older married children and for
some reason went on to buy a farm near Champaign Illinois. Where she
was very successful. She died there after 1877.
Why she left two married children and struck out - apparently on her own
- for a new life in Illinois is a mystery.
She is mentioned in Perry County History books in connection with her
church work and one of her sons relates some of the family history in an
1877 autobiographical sketch - which someone in Illinois sent me years
ago - thanks again.
Any comments from anyone? Hal
