Richard E. Watson services NEWCOMERSTOWN — Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, for Richard E. Watson, 61, of Newcomerstown, who died Thursday (Nov. 8, 2001) at his home. The Rev. William (Sonny) Ramsay will officiate. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. He was born Aug. 6, 1940, in Wirt County, W.Va., son of Bernard O. Watson of Newcomerstown, and the late Virgie O. (Tanner) Watson. Mr. Watson attended Newcomerstown High School and was a member of Valley View Baptist Church, Newcomerstown. He retired from Simonds Industries, Newcomerstown, where he served as a pattern cutter for 15 years prior to his disability retirement in 1990. Prior to that he was an employee of Kurz-Kasch Co., Newcomerstown, for several years. He was also a former employee of Davey Tree Trimming and the owner and operator of R&R Used Furniture, Newcomerstown. He was an avid CB radio enthus!
iast and was well known by his handle “Slim” on channel 20 for many years. He enjoyed music and playing the guitar. He was a member of the Good Times Band of West Lafayette, which performs at many of the area nursing homes. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He leaves his wife, Patsy J. (Stephenson) Watson of Newcomerstown, whom he married Nov. 12, 1960; two sons, David E. (Deb B.) Watson and Donald L. (Starla L.) Watson, all of Newcomerstown; a daughter, Rebecca “Becky” L. Watson of the home; five grandchildren, Tiffany L. “Tiff” Roes, Desiree S. Watson, Holly L. Watson and Dusty N. Watson, all of Newcomerstown, and Sara M. Watson of Gnadenhutten; a sister, Deborah S. “Debbie” Watson of Newcomerstown; and a foster sister, Marylou Neely of Newcomerstown. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third St., Dover, OH 44622.
