I have a copy of a newspaper article of Apr. 22, 1880 in which there are two articles.
1. Our school is progressing finely under the instruction of D. M. Hawthorne, with an enrollment of 85.
2. Owing to the death of his father, D.M. Hawthorne was summoned home on the 14th inst. His school was left in the care of O.R. Taylor during the remainder of the week.

The father mentioned above was my gg grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Hawthorn. The D.M. Hawthorne was a David Morrow Hawthorne brother to my g grandfather Benjamin Hawthorne. D.M. Hawthorne was born March 1850 and he married Margaret Ballentine who was born in 1852.

Would anyone know of what school the articles are referring to and where to find information on the school and teachers. And also would love to correspond with anyone from this Hawthorne family ........
