How about that 1850 census? Is the relationship with this
other family established?

The Guernsey Co Genealogical Society has an index of all
the probate-related records thru 1850 available for sale.
I have an unpublished index of the admin dockets and
and inventories thru 1845 (in part) and no Rosses appear
there.

Beyond that there are the court records, which are
extensive but in various states of legibility and
completeness. These should be accessible thru
the county genealogical society and / or the court house,
but the LDS library has film; if one of their research
libraries is available to you, then see
www.familysearch.org
or
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp
choose place search
guernsey ohio
look for probate records
expand these for the microfilm item numbers

I would expect the Ohio state archives or historical
society would also have these films.
