Dear Angie,

It's been a long time, but I just came across this obituary for Jesse Linkhorn:

"A Pioneer Gone"

"Jesse Linkhorn, aged 80 years, died in Byesville Saturday from diseases incident to old age. He has suffered with the grippe from which he never fully recovered, and which probably caused his fatal illness.

Mr. Linkhorn was born in Guernsey county, and has spend his long life in the county; for the last twelve years in Byesville. He was married in 1836 to Miss Wilson, who survives him.

To them were born six children, all of whom are living, and the sons among the most prominent business men of the county. The funeral was conducted on Sunday."

This obit appeared in the Cambridge Jeffersonian on Thursday, October 6th, 1892.

I have also collected some news clippings on sons and daughters. One of Jesse's sons, Stephen, a.k.a. "Doc Linkhorn" was apparently very prominent in the county, dealing in cattle and horses. I can post the rest of the family info if you'd like.

With blessings,
Heidi Agin
