I am hoping that someone will know where my Straughn family might
have come from.

From a death certificate of a daughter, Rebecca Straughn married
Rezin Hawkins about 1815 in Hamilton county area of OHIO.
Rebecca was born in 1790 in Pennsylvania, according
to the census records of 1820--1860. In the 1820s they moved with
several young children, to Marion County, Indiana, near
Indianapolis, as did some of Rezin's nephews and neices.

Rezin's family had lived in the Washington, Greene, Fayette
county area of PA before moving out to the Cincinnati area in
1794. Rebecca's family may also have come from that area, since a
lot of the early settlers of the Hamilton co area did.

Before that, the Hawkins lived in Maryland, in Baltimore and
Harford cos. and moved out to the Pittsburg area starting in
1782. I know there are Straughns from early on in the history of
Maryland, so the two families could have known each other from
there. Several of Rezin's brothers and sisters were born in MD,
but he was the youngest.

I have not been able to find a probable family of Straughns in
the records I have been able to search from afar for the
Cincinnati area. There are some Strongs
in the 1820 census, but no Straughns or even Strawns.

The only other clues I have are the names of Rebecca's children
that don't seem to come from the Hawkins side: John, Sylvester,
Elizabeth, Rebecca, Caroline, and Lucinda and Belinda who were
twins. I think she had 2 sets of twins.
If anyone recognizes this family or has any advice for me, I
surely will appreciate it.
