I have two branches of family in Cincinnati to search for. The first
is DITTMANN, which originated in Germany (Rochrsdorf, Silesia,
Prussia?). Andreas/Andreius Dittmann emigrated here. His wife is
Mary Elizabeth Menchen. Children were born in Cincinnati, notably my
grandfather Jacob Nicholas Dittmann, b. 26 November 1885 and d. 13
September 1936. His wife is Mary/Mayme MILLER, b. 6 Dec. 1890 and d.
20 July 1948. Her family is harder to trace back to the old country.
Possibly her father, Nicholas Miller, was from Boston, and his wife
Catherine/Katie Leonard from Limerick, Ireland, but we have sketchy
info there.
2nd query is for KLEIMAN. We believe this to be a German name, but
have only sparse info. My grandfather is William Joseph Kleiman, b.
29 July 1889 in Cincinnati. His father is William H. Kleiman,
birthplace unknown, b. 2 june 1864. William H. married Helen MAHONEY,
b. 15 November 1871 in Cincinnati. Her people are thought to be from
County cork, Ireland.
William Joseph Kleiman married Mary Cecelia RIGNEY 15 Jan. 1919 in
Cincinnati. We have good information on her family tree, back to
County Offaly, Ireland.
