Subject: The Madison House / The Metropolitan Hotel

My question is in regards to the two hotels that Samuel P. Armstrong
either lived or worked at, below, per the Williams city directories in
the years indicated below. What was the Madison House? What was the
Metropolitan Hotel?

1855 Williams Cincinnati directory:
Armstrong Samuel P. agt. 25 W. 3rd.

1856 directory:
(Armstrong page damaged, not visible)

1863 directory:
Armstrong Samuel P. clk. Madison House

1864 William's:
Armstrong Samuel P. Clk. 41 W. 2nd, bds Madison House

1865 directory:
(there was no Armstrong page remaining)

1866 directory:
No listing for Samuel P. Armstrong. (did he lose his home between 1864
and 1866?)

1867 directory:
Armstrong S. P. bds. Metropolitan Hotel

1869 directory:
No listing for Samuel P. Armstrong. Did he die?
