Dear Carol & List,

I know it's been said before on this list, but it bears repeating that, even
for out-of-towners, it's hugely worth getting to the Public Library of
Cincinnati & Hamilton County at 8th & Vine downtown in Cinci for us
genealogists! It has a WONDERFUL collection of genealogical materials on the
3rd floor in the History Dep't. I only came home for a few days the last
time, but found one great-grandmother's entire family, another
g-g-grandmother about whom I hadn't known previously, lots of details
concerning the lives of a third line of my family, etc., etc.

One of the best resources for people interested in prominent, or even plain,
people is the set of Williams City of Cincinnati Directories. Combining
these with the census info you can obtain there will almost certainly add to
your knowledge of your forebearers ... and, in addition, it's a beautiful
and pleasant building with knowledgeable & helpful librarians as well.

BTW, go to their web-site on-line at:
http://plch.lib.oh.us/
and find reference numbers for newspaper obits that you can call up and
order for 50 cents apiece. This also is another wonderful service of theirs!

Hope this helps anyone.

Best wishes & happy hunting,

Barbara (V. Smith)
Athens, Ohio
