My great grandmother, Mary Agnes Juergens, was born 13 Feb 1858, supposedly in
Fostoria, OH. On 3-5 Jan 1865, she and her brother Joseph, b.c. 1856, were
admitted to St Aloysius Orphanage by their uncle, Joseph Schmiddinghoff ("with
the consent of the Vicar General, Joseph Ferneding.") The whereabouts of the
childrens' father, William Jergens, was unknown.

Mary Agnes later married a Mr. Kappel who was killed in an accident of some
sort, then married Franklin Pierce Botts, a Cincinnati Fireman, c. 1885.
Franklin Botts was killed in December 1910 when he was hit by a train in
Middletown.

Does anyone have ANY information on the Juergens or the Schmiddinghoffs?
According to my mother, Mary Agnes refused to discuss her father at all, even
though he did later return, with a new wife.

Any assistance will be gratefully accepted.
