I have received a lot of help with my WINSTEL family here on this List. I was
in the village, Hayna, where they came from, and have traced them back to the
early 1700´s in the church-books on microfilm in Speyer. I also met the
present-day Winstels who still live in the farmhouse where my gggrandfather
must have been born! It was a great adventure - also because I could hardly
understand their dialect, even though I´ve lived in Germany for 20 years. I
wonder what it was like back then in Cinci, with all those Germans from
villages who spoke and understood only their own, sometimes thick, dialects!

Anyway, I ran across a bit of info that maybe someone here can help me with.
It seems that my gggrandfather, Johann WINSTEL joined a group called "Der
Deutsche Pioneer Verein von Cincinnatit" in 1874, some 11 years before his
death. Anybody ever heard of this group (The German Pioneer Club of Cinci, in
English)?

TIA (It took me a long time to figure out what that means!)
