Subject: FILLHARDT & BUCHHEIT(BOHART) in Bavaria, OH, KY
Date: Sat, 7 Nov 1998 08:12:59 EST
My FILLHARDTs were from Gersbach, Pirmasens, Bavaria but I am still looking
for the birthplace of two brothers, Peter and Phillip BUCHHEIT also from
Bavaria. If you have any connection to these families in Bavaria or KY,
please let me know.
Peter was born about Dec 1836 and Phillip about 1840. They immigrated to
America about 1849. On Nov 18, 1858 Peter married Charlotte FILLHARDT in
Hamilton County, OH. In 1860, Charlotte's parents, Christian Fillhardt and
Sophia Bohrer were living in Delhi Township, Hamilton County, OH. There is no
record of Peter and Charlotte in the 1860 Census Index for Hamilton County, OH
or Campbell County, KY and I did not find them on the 2 pages before and after
Christian and Sophia. I need to look at the 1860 Census for Hamilton County
line by line I guess to see if I can find them.
According to th St. John's Lutehran Church Records, Christian and Sophia lived
in 8 Mile Creek Campbell County, KY by 1861. Christian was instrumental in
starting the church and was president of the church at one time. Many of his
children and grandchildren were baptized in this church. There was also one
baptism record for John Buchheit, the youngest son of Peter and Charlotte in
1880.
Peter and Charlotte were living in 8 Mile Precinct, Campbell County, KY by
1870. They were listed as BOKEHART. I believe that their first child, Jacob
was born in Hamilton County, OH in May 1859 and posiibly their second child,
Amelia was also born in Hamilton County in July 1860. Their remaining 5
children were born in Campbell County between April 1864 and Sep 1880 probably
in the 8 Mile Creek area.
In 1870, Charlotte's parents were also living in 8 Mile Precinct with 4 of
their children and Phillip Bookhart. I believe Phillip is the brother of
Peter due to the spelling of BUCHHEIT being mangled in both listings. I have
lost all trace of Phillip after this time.
Peter and family preceded to change their name from BUCHHEIT to BOHART
(BOHARDT by son Jacob only) by 1900. Son Jacob moved on to Dayton,
Montgomery County, OH between 1897 and 1900. Peter and his other children
remained in Campbell County, KY and Hamilton County, KY.
Thanks
