Hello, All;
The recent postings regarding riverboat pilots and Tall Stacks urges me to
mention once again that one piece of information missing about my own
ancestors is that my gggf, Hiram POTTS, was said in his obituary to have been
the "well-known steamboat man". So far, I have found no indication of his
involvement in that industry.
Have searched all the sites, have read all the known books so far, looked
at every record I could locate. Nothing. And I am a member of the Sons &
Daughters organization in Marietta.

so -- while you're out there looking in those resources, please keep Hiram
Potts in mind. I'd sure like to know why he was referred to as "well-known".
Apparently he was so "well - known" nobody wrote about him or kept
records about his occupation!

Just one more of genealogy's little mysteries.

Best wishes,
Ann
