Subject: [OHHAMILT] MILLER/MUELLER & cemetery help
Hi all,
I have been looking for some time for the grave
of my gg-grandmother Katharine "Kate" WIPPEL
MILLER (MUELLER/MULLER.) I finally found the
burial record for her. She died in Cincinnati
in 1918 and is buried at Spring Grove Cemetery
just as we always believed. (A while back, I was
told she wasn't there.) By mail, Spring Grove
was very helpful. I sent a self-addressed
stamped envelope and had reply in one week!
They charged .50/copy and have billed me for the
$3.00 I owe. What service!
Kate WIPPEL (b. Pomeroy, 1847) married Andrew
MILLER (b. Bavaria, 1845) in Meigs County, OH,
in 1866. They moved to Cincinnati sometime
between 1875 and 1880. My surprise is that Kate
Miller is buried with two of her grown children,
but her husband isn't there. Andrew Miller
preceded her in death, but his date of death is
unknown. It is after 1885 and before 1918.
Andrew Miller was a civil war veteran and a
member of the G.A.R. Is there a military
cemetery in Cincinnati where he may be. Also,
the family lived near Mt. Echo Park and may have
been members of St. Martin's German Evangelical
Church. Is there a cemetery associated with St.
Martins?
Finally, Andrew's parents, Philipp Miller (b.
Bavaria, 1810) and Catherine (b. 1803) may also
have died in Cincinnati. I have found no death
record in Meigs County. Philipp, Sr., was alive
in 1866 when he gave Andrew permission to
marry. (Andrew was under 21.)
Any suggestions on where to look next will be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Cheryl Biermann Hartley
