In Beers History of Brown County, page 254, there is a petition to select
a Justice of the Peace, by citizens of then Hamilton County, including
my ancestor Lewis Shick (Sheek, etc.). This area was later in Brown County,
OH. According to Beers, this petition was published in 1845 in
something called Cist's "Cincinnati Miscellany".
Can anyone tell me what this was, if there is a copy of it in some archives,
and if not, where would the original petition be? I am thinking it will
be in some State Papers, but would not begin to know where they might be
found, as the area was at that time called the Northwest Territory.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
