Subject: [OHHAMILT] Strassek marriage and birth

The maiden name of my g-grandfather's (Peter Strassel, born
1817 in Walschbronn, FR) ) wife and my grandfather's (Peter
Strassel, b. 1852 in Cinti) mother remaind a mystery.

I have just obtained from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati,
what I thought would surely be my great-grandfather's
marriage sacramental between Peter and Anna Maria KRIES. I
found this listed in Jeff Herbert's book. The marriage
occurrred in 1850 -- and the time was right -- the
Strassel's had their first son in 1851 followed by Peter in
1852.

Howevre, when I looked at Peter Strasse, Jr.'s baptismal
sacramental, his mother is definitely Annamaria KREBS. The
Annamaria and Anna Maria could be just an Americanized
version of a European name. But it could mean that I have
the records fo two different women, too.

There were at least three or four Peter Strassels living in
Hamilton County at the same time. My grandfather married at
least twice to Anna Marias...hard to tell where one begins
and the other leaves off.

There is no room for mistaken handwriting -- both copies are
as clearly written as can be.

I thought of reading ALL of the obits listed in the German
papers for Kries and Krebs hoping to find a mention of a
bereaved Strassel. However, that seems rather labor
intensive.

Does anyone have a beter idea?

Thanks, Buffy & Trixie!
