I am looking for any information on Anthony Brandenburg, my 4
ggrandfather. This is the information I have on him:
"According to his granddaughter, Mariah Peelle, Anthony Brandenburg
emigrated from Pennsylvania to Warren County, Ohio, when there were but
three houses where the city of Cincinnati now stands. Information provided
by W. P. Chadwick.
"From the obituary of Mariah Clements Peelle (The Knox Crescent, Thursday,
Sept. 13, 1900): During the early history of Ohio, her grandfather (AB)
settled at a point on the Ohio river in Ohio, near the junction of the
Miami and Ohio rivers and near the present site of Cincinnati, and her
father[Isaac Clements] bore the distinction of being one of the first white
children born at Cincinnati, he and his family being among the few
survivors who escaped the massacre by the Indians at that place during the
early history. Her grandfather [Forgerson Greene Clements] being one of
the victims of that terrible scene."
I have some information that Anthony served in the Revolutionary War,
having enlisted in Virginia. He was was granted a pension in 1835
according to the records of Ohio.
I am especially interested in finding out who his parents were. He doesn't
seem to fit any of the other Brandenburg families. And I also need to find
out the name of his wife.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
