Subject: [Hamilt'n] Cinci Germans - Hassaurek / Markbriet

Friedrich Hassaurek is a notable character in Cincinatti and US history. He
immigrated from Austria and became a leading figure in the German community in
Cincinatti by the late 1850's and was the editor of Cincinatti Volksblat. He
was a poliitical figure, lawyer, author and appointed Minister to Ecuador by
President Lincoln. He and his half-brother Leopold Markbriet were law
partners with Rutherford B. Hayes. Leopold became a Colonel in the Union Army and
was held captive by the Confederates.

There is a lot you can find out about Hassaurek and Markbriet on the web,
except for one thing. The names of their wives.

I would be interested in corresponding with anyone familiar with Friedrich
Hassaurek or his brother, especially if they have the wives names.

Thanks, Doug
