Leatha,

I'm not Lucy, but have you tried census records as a way of establishing
parent's names? Unless the surname is a common one that generates several
hundred results, the volunteers on the
OH-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L mailing list have often been able to match
children with parents.

You can subscribe to that list by sending a new email with the word
subscribe typed in the subject line to :

You'll receive a Welcome Message and instructions on how to post a
lookup request. In the Welcome Message be sure to note that the address for
posting a request is different from the address you used
to subscribe. When you want to unsubscribe from the list, just send a
new email with the word unsubscribe typed in the subject line to
the same address above. There's no charge and you can leave the list
at any time.

Good Luck,
Marilyn in Ohio

How would one possibly find a birth record on someone born in 1854?I
was hoping to find it in order to find out who someones parents were and
