It was you, Susan -- I realized you asked for the Billet brothers, Christian
Karl, Leopold, Rudolph, Joseph, and Xavier, but when I found none with that
spelling, I looked for any spelling I could find. I think you're right that
the key here is to find out what parts of what country were called what ---
and when. And if that sentence is confusing, try following some of the
border changes! Sorry I couldn't come up with your brothers.

Hi Linda,

Since I seem to have short and long term memory loss :-) - If I'm the Susan
you were kind enough to look for the name Billet and came up with Billot, I
do
appreciate your effort. Perhaps I need to study more about when that area
was called what? Mine were definitely Billet but the place they came from
is
not Alsace-Lorraine as I've been told by family lore - is family lore ever
correct?
Our branch came from Oberkirch, Baden, Germany which blurred into A-L as I
sort of understand it! If this rambling should help anyone else who ought
to be
looking in German states, then all your efforts have not been in vain.
It isn't a matter of time frame either. My Billets came to America from 1851
to abt 186-something.

Thank you very much for looking for me, I truly do appreciate it!!!!
Susan
