Hello,
I am still seeking the parents/family of John CREGAR,
my ggg-grandfather. He was born in Ohio about ~1801 and
is found in the 1830, 1840 Springfield, Hamilton
Co., OH censuses. In 1850, he is found in Preble Co.
with wife and family. They moved to Washington, Daviess
Co., IN about 1858 and John died there in 1859.
John married Mary Ann VANDYKE, daughter of Dominicus
and Mary Packer VANDYKE in 1835, early residents of Springfield
Twp., Hamilton Co. from NJ. He may have been married before but
we've not been able to find any marriage record. There is 1 male
child under 5 and 2 older females listed with John in the
1830 census. In later censuses, his eldest son appears to have
been born 3 years before John and Mary Ann were married.
It sure seems that John should be related to these Creagers
in Hamilton Co. in the early 1800's. He is living in close
proximity to the various Creager/Creeger/Cregar/Crager families
in 1820 - 1840.
Does anyone have more information about how or if the following
are related?

1820 census
Springfield Twp, Hamilton Co., OH
---------------------------------
William Creeger (45)
Peter Creeger (45+)
Peter Creeger (26)

1830 census
Springfield Twp, Hamilton Co., OH
---------------------------------
Aron Cregar (20-30)
William Cregar (40-50)
John Cregar (20-30)
Elizabeth Cregar (60-70)
Peter Cregar (40-50)

1840 census
Springfield Twp, Hamilton Co., OH
---------------------------------
Philip Cregar (50-60)
Aaron Cregar (30-40)
John Creagar (30-40)

Any help or referrals to references would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.
