Hi, Barbara,
I also have ancestors in Hamilton County in the mid 1800's, .....the
LEIBROOK's.....so I can certainly identify with you dilemma.

Do you have ancestry.com? I checked it for John and Ann Dill in the 1850
census...I did find John D. Dill, 44, instead of John G. Dill from PA, along
with Ann, 39, and children, Cort A., 15, Margt 13, Mathew, 11, Elias F.,
7. Is that the same as yours?

In the 1860 Ohio Census, Hamilton County, Crosby Township:
Mathew Dill, 21, Farmer, Place of Birth: Ohio
Anna Dill, 47, Housework, Place of Birth: Ohio
Margaret Dill, 23, Housework, Place of Birth: Oho
Elias Dill, 17, Farm Laborer, Place of Birth: Ohio
(but no John)

In the 1870 Census: Ann, Charles and Margaret are still living in Crosby,
Hamilton County.

It looks like John died or left the family between 1850 and 1860, so that is
a good period to search for his death. You probably know this already, but
that would also be my best guess.

Here are a few sites that were sent to me:

Hope they help.
Rose

Subject: [OH-HAMILT] Death Record for DILL, John

Could someone help me find a death record for my great-grandfather, John G.
Dill? The last census on him was in 1850 in Hamilton County, Green Township,
OH. He was 44 years old and married to Ann who was 39.

I cannot find him in the 1860 census for Hamilton County, OH. His wife, Ann,
however, is listed in Crosby Township, age 47.

Are there any cemeteries in Green Township to see if he had died there some
time in these 10 years?

Sure appreciate any advice anyone can give me.

Thanks much,
Barbara
