Hi Marilyn,
I started this off topic subject, and I am sorry. It wasn't so bad to start
with but then I got carried away. You are right to stop it. I do appreciate all
the help, and if anyone wants to email me at home that is fine.
ON TOPIC: Today I received the Civil War file copies of my gggrandfather
Henry Edward Nieske who was born in Germany and lived in Cincinnati, Ohio. Norman
R. Peters was the researcher I used, and I got his email address from a kind
person on this list. There are several papers, and I found out a lot of
information! I found out that he immigrated from Pestrop, Oldenburg Germany to
Cincinnati probably in the 1830s to early 1840s. Does anyone else have ancestors who
immigrated from the village of Pestrop during that time? They might be
related. Does anyone know anything about Pestrop, Oldenburg?
I highly recommend Norman R. Peters to anyone who is trying to find the files
of ancestors who fought in the Civil War. You can find out a lot of
information from the files..unlike Elbert Homer..(whoops I won't again!)
Thanks everyone,
Susan E. Davis
