Janet and all:

I think this information has been posted previously -- should be archived,
but I couldn't begin to tell you when or under what heading.

So -- if the Alt 225 = ß

worked for you -- these probably will as well:

129 =ü
154 =Ü
132 =ä
142 = Ä
148 = ö
153 = Ö
137 = ë
139 =ï

That system does not work for all computers, and I don't know the difference.
If you have not tried it -- you must hold down the Alt key while entering
the numbers on your separate nine-digit numerical keyboard. When finished
entering the numbers, let go of the Alt key and the symbol should show on your
screen (first having brought up either a mail window or a text program).
