Hi Ann and everyone on the list, I want to thank everone for help on this little project and the Steinkamp connection is a large part of solving this I hope.
I went back through my files and found John Depenbrock did die 25 Oct 1898 and is buried at St. Mary`s his age is listed as 47, so it appears he was born in 1851 in Cincinnati, so that would rule him out as living in Washington DC in 1900 and being married to Magdalena, so end of story right??? Oh no it goes on . Rudolph was married twice the first wife was Anna Maria Elisabeth Klus (Klues ) they were married 21 Oct 1849
at Old St. Mary`s they had one child I new of Bernard Heinrich Depenbrock born 28 Jul 1850 and died Aug 1 1850, his mother Anna died 12 Sep 1850, then Rudolph married Anna`s cousin Margaretha Wubbolt.
So then I rechecked the city directory for 1879 in Cincinnati and I find my GGreatgrandfather Rudolph living at 16 Elliot with 3 John Depenbrock`s
John Depenbrock a finisher
John Depenbrock a tanner
John Depenbrock Jr.a Tanner

Now there was a John F. Depenbrock in Cincinnati in the 1863 City Directory, could John Jr. be his son and lived with his uncle Rudolph, Maybe??

Maybe Rudolph and his first wife had twins and John Was born 1850 and was the one buried in 1898.
well this just keeps getting better and better, I am sure this will get solved.

Well, Steve;

It's a good idea, but I was not able to find any marriage in the Hamilton co. OH marriage indexes (1808-1889) for a Schnieder - Depenbrock connection.

Also did not find a marriage for Fred Steinkamp to Catherine Schneider.

Just had a thought, though. Am going to see how many marriages there are in the lists for a Catherine Schneider to anyone. Maybe Fred Steinkamp was not her first husband.

If you think of anything else, let me know.

Later note:
Here's another thought. In browsing through various indexes, I did find an early burial in 1847 at St. John the Baptist Cath. Church for Maria Magdalena Schneider, child of Georg Schneider and Barbara Wibeld.

In 1853, Rudolph Depenbrock married Margaretha Wubbolt. Maybe the relationship is somewhere in the Wibeld/Wubbolt/Wuebold, etc. line. I find that surname several times in a variety of spellings.

Ann
