Hello,
I am new to the list and trying to find the Hughes family associated
with my ggrandmother Minnie HUGHES. She was orphaned as an
infant(according to family lore, both parents died in an accident) and
was adopted by a William Walker and Elizabeth Garbison Walker and were
living in MO by 1870. Minnie was born 29 Oct 1866 in Ohio. I have
searched and found 2 William Walkers(b.PA) living in Hardin Co.,
according to the 1860 census and is the same age as the William Walker
who adopted Minnie, one in Dudley and one in Kenton. Elizabeth
Garbison was living in Marion Co. as a child in 1850, but it appears her
parents died as well and cannot find her in any census in 1860, so she
may have married before marrying William Walker or was also adopted.
Sounds like fun doesn't it.(;-)
Are there any death records or adoption records available in Hardin Co.,
OH for the years 1866 to 1869? I was able to find an Albert and Lucy
Hughes, ages 20 and 17, in the 1860 census. I checked further census
nation wide and found no listings for either an Albert or Lucy Hughes in
the 1870 census, so I am looking for the death of these two in late 1860s.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance one can give on this major
brick wall for many years.
Sincerely,
David Anderson
