Linda,
Thanks again, for providing more helpful info of the OHS death indexes and
their newspapers on microfilm. A couple days ago I was told I could order
Ohio death certificates 1908-1953 on-line thru _www.starklibrary.org_
(http://www.starklibrary.org) . I filled out their request form for Henry Sloan, d.
May 14, 1917, that may take 2-3 weeks to search.
I just checked the OHS list of newspapers they have on microfilm... the 1892
newspapers are missing! Although they do have the Kenton newspaper, "News
& Republican" , Roll #23941 for a few months in the year 1917, that includes
the month Henry Sloan died, May 1917! The OHS does not do look-ups.
Hopefully, I may find a kind soul to find his obit that could provide valuable
family information of his parents and siblings.
It is very generous of you to offer to look up the death records for James
and his children at the FHC. I do have the death record of his one son
Francis Marion Sloan, b.1849 Logan Co., who died March 25, 1924, Auglaize Co. The
witness only lists his father's name, James Sloan. His obit includes his
parents names, James and Rachel Sloan of Logan Co. All but one of his siblings,
J. G. Sloan of California had died before 1924.
Since learning James Sloan's date of death Oct 13, 1892, I would love to
obtain a copy of his death record if found! The only data I have so far of
him, is from census records. Born 1818 PA., Father MD., Mother NJ. (listed on
the 1880 census, Kenton, Hardin Co.) I am looking forward to learn of your
findings next Wednesday and happy to reimburse you for search and copy fees!
Regards,
Julia
