John Walter Scott, b. 10/10/1811 Yorkshire, England, d. 10/8/1886
Cadiz, OH; m. 8/20/1839 at Deersville to Jane Pittis, b. 5/18/1819
Isle of Wight, G.B., d. 2/23/1901 Cadiz, OH. They had 9 children,
six lived to become adults.
Dr. John W. Scott, s/o James Scott, native of Sowerby Bridge,
Yorkshire, was a dentist, watch & clockmaker, inventor of the
muscial instrument the melo-phean (Smithsonian Institute catalogue #
248,305). He was a member of the Disciple Church in Cadiz, and
later of the Methodist Church.
Also, James had another son, William Scott.
