Carol,

You probably know that I have one of the copies of the book "Johannes Heintz
and His Descendants". Because a friend borrowed my mother's copy years ago,
he made her a photocopy to go with the original. Both are indexed.

As for research in Maryland or DC, I was living in Northern Virginia when my
son was born and that got me interested in genealogy in the first place. We
lived there for five years and part of my sales territory was in the
District. I used to visit Nat. Arch. during my lunch hour. I'd call ahead to
reserve a certain census book, have lunch at their cafeteria call on their
Medical center and go up stairs to look at the census.

Based on the Proctor book, we have driven by the former residences of
Christian, John and the other members of the family. I've told many people
about the tanning factory they once had across the street from what is now
Woodward and Lothrop Dept. Store.

When Christina married Matthew Kennedy, he bought a team and wagon from his
father-in-law. I found the bill of sale in the District Court Records. It
was witnessed by the father of Francis Scott Key. DC is a very interesting
place to do genealogy if you ancestors lived there!!!

If I can look anything up in the book, please ask. The original is getting
rather worn, but the photocopy is identical and has lots of life left in it.

Jim B.
