For Tracie Blackman.

Hi Tracie.

This is further my email of 11/5/99, same subject.

Since my copier is down, here are highlights of Baughman's biography on
Andrew Jackson BLACKMAN. Unless otherwise indicated, the surname in all cases
below is BLACKMAN.

Parents of Andrew J. were Simeon and Wealthy (BARRETT). They were married 21
Apr 1821.Both were natives of New York, and both are buried in Butterfield
Cemetery, New London township. Simeon d. 7 May 1864; Wealthy d. 15 Dec 1891.

Simeon and Wealthy had eight children, two of whom two died in infancy.
Growing to maturity were: Orinda, Elvira A., Wealthy A., Andrew J., Mary A.
and George W.

Andrew J. m. Emeline (SMITH) 1 Sep 1855. Andrew was b. 10 Dec 1830 in new
London Township. Emeline was the d/o Sherman and Carolyn (KNAPP) SMITH. She
d. 14 Jun 1909 and is buried in the Methodist Episcopal Cemetery, Clarksfield
Township. Andrew and Emily had two children: Sherman F. and Emma Dell.
Sherman lost his wife and was living at the family home as of 1909. Emma
Dell m. Charles H. Burrows.

Notes on Simeon.

Simeon came to Ohio in 1815 with his brother Joel; his family came a year
later. He arrived in Florence township, Huron county. In ca 1816 he settled
in New London Township where he bought 110 acres of land. In addition to
farming, he engaged in the manufacture of potash and pearl ash. Simeon lived
in New London Township until 1833 when he moved to Russia Township, Loraine
County. Ca 1835 he moved again to a farm near Huron Village. Again, ca 1837,
he moved to Vermilion Township, Erie County where he bought a farm. In 1839
he trade this farm for a farm in Clarksfield Township where he lived till his
death on 17 May 1864. ( My note: It appears that Simeon had the two year
itch.)

Notes on Andrew J.

Andrew grew up on his father's farm where he lived till age 21. In 1857 he
bought a farm where he farmed and raised stock. Now (in 1909) he owns 260
acres.Over the years he has held the offices of Township Trustee, Justice of
the Peace, and Road Supervisor. The step father of Andrew's wife, Simeon
HOYT, came from Connecticut to Huron County as a surveyor, assisting his
brother Comfort HOYT of the Firelands. The HOYT brothers were the first
settlers in Clarksfield Township.
