Hi Ken. I was steered to you by De-Vonna and am trying to get information
on my fathers generation. His early life is a total mystery as well as his
siblings. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Jim >>
Hi Jim,
Apart from a marriage reference and a cemetery insciption reference, I could
find nothing else specifically on Ezra FACKLER. However, in our Fire Lands
book, I did find a FACKLER family which might be antecedent to Ezra. I've
included this for what it's worth below, in addition to some ties with the
same names which appeared in our other books.
1. History of the Fire Lands, by W.W. Williams, 1879.
Page 291. Section on Richmond Township.
Mentions Jonas FACKLER came into the township on 30 Apr 1837 and moved into a
cabin with Phillip Upp. His younger brother, Jacob FACKLER, came with him and
in nine days they had completed a cabin and moved into it. This was on lot
two in the second section. He (presumably Jonas) had four sons and one
daughter. The sons still live in the township; the daughter died in Michigan.
2. Huron County, Ohio Marriages, 1815-1900, by Scheur Publications, 1992.
Ezra FACKLER m. Elnora MURPHEY 14 Dec 1871, Book 2, page 280.
Jacob FACKLER m. Isabella SMITH 1 Oct 1848, Old book 3, page 97.
Jacob R. FACKLER m. Sarah CARPENTER 25 Mar 1841, Old book 2, page 59.
3. Huron County, Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions, by HCC/OGS, 1997.
New Greenwood Cemetery, New Haven Township.

8 Eleanor FACKLER 1853-1925.
9 Ezra W. FACKLER 1849-1921.
Richmond Township Cemetery, Richmond Township.

4. Plat Book of 1845, Huron County, Ohio.
Jonas FACKLER, Richmond Twp, page 62, section 2, lot 2, 102 acres.
5. Atlas of 1873, Huron County, Ohio.
A. FACKLER, Richmond Twp, page 39, section 2, lot 1, 57.5 acres.
J. FACKLER, Richmond Twp, page 39, section 2, lot 2, 95 acres.
P.O. FACKLER, Richmond Twp, page 39, section 2, lot 1, 51.5 acres.
D. FACKLER, Richmond Twp, page 39, section 2, lot 2 (acreage not given).
6. Atlas of 1891.
Dan'l FACKLER, Richmond Twp, page 41, section 2, lot 2.
Jas. FACKLER, Richmond Twp, page 41, section 1, lot 3.
M.C. FACKLER, Richmond Twp, page 41, section 1, lot 18.
Philip FACKLER, Richmond Twp, page 41, section 2, lot 1.
(Note: above informatio from 1891 Atlas was taken from the index. Actual land
ownership page for Richmond Township is missing from our book.)
7. Military History of Huron County, Ohio (Civil War), by HCC/OGS, 1989.
Page 21. In "Roll of Honor" section listing those from Huron County, Ohio who
served during the Civil War:
"P.O. FACKLER enrolled in Erie County Sept. 23, 1864; entered hospital at
Nashville, Dec. 18, 1864; discharged there June 1, 1865.
There are close to 30 Fackler names in our Huron County, Ohio Marriage book.
This is more than I am willing to look up and list for a given request.
However, if you have some specific FACKLER names you would like me to check
in our Marriage book, I'd be happy to do so.
Regards,
Ken Shute, in MD ().
