Eleanor or Ella BROWN is listed as buried in the Ninevah Cemetery,
Greenwich, OH, 1833-1926 with her husband Samuel BROWN.
I am trying to obtain her death certificate and have searched the Ohio Death
Index for her, but have not been able to find her. She could have died out
of state, I realize, but the Ohio Death Index is also not completely
accurate.
Does anyone know if there are additional records for the Ninevah Cemetery
and where those are?
Does anyone have any information about Eleanor and Samuel?
Thanks.

Hi Anne,
Here are some bits and pieces on Samuel & Eleanor BROWN that might help you
locate Eleanor's death certificate. I couldn't find a death record on her, or
her son J. Wilson BROWN, in our Huron County, Ohio publications. I can't help
but wonder if they might have moved away from Huron County sometime after the
death of Samuel in 1888.
1. Huron County, Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions.
Nineveh Cemetery, Greenwich Township.
Page 173. Row 10.
6 Katherine M. KNIFFEN w/o J. Wilson BROWN, 1869-1904.
7 Mother Eleanor 1833-1926.
Father Samuel 1829-1888.
2. Death Index 1867-1908.
Samuel BROWN d. 12/09/1888.
3. Huron County, Ohio Marriages, 1815-1900, by Scheuer Publications, 1992.
Joseph Wilson BROWN m. Kittie May KNIFFIN 7 Mar 1885. Book 4, Page 272.
4. Atlas of 1873, Huron County, Ohio.
Samuel BROWN, Greenwich Twp, page 45, section 2, lot 8, 100 acres.
Note: The property of a Benjamin KNIFFIN adjoins that of Samuel's to the east
(400 acres), and to the south (48.5 acres).
5. Atlas of 1891, Huron County, Ohio.
Sam'l. BROWN, Greenwich Twp, page 47, section 2, lot 7, 100 acres.
(Could this be his estate, since the cemetery inscription had his death date
as 1888?)
6. Picturesque Huron County, Ohio, 1896.
Page 183. Depicts the "Residence of Mrs. Eleanor BROWN, Greenwich Township.
Erected in 1840." (What appears to be a man and a young child are standing in
front of the house.)
7. 1870 Census Index, Huron County, Ohio.
Samuel BROWN, age 41, born in OH, census page 312 for Greenwich Township.
Other BROWNs, apparently part of Samuel's family, appear on census page 312A
for Greenwich Township.
Read first name, age, and place of birth.
Charles, 4, IN
Ella, 36, IN
Fanny, 6, IN
Harry, 10, IN
Nancy, 1. OH
William, 1, OH
Wilson, 8, IN.
If Ella here is your Eleanor/Ella, and Wilson is J. Wilson, it would seem
this could be your family of Samuel and Eleanor/Ella. The approximate birth
years, based on the ages given, seem to fit. It would further suggest that
Samuel and Ella were married by, or before, 1860, and they moved to OH from
IN sometime 1866-1869. This Wilson would have been about the right age (23)
when he married Kittie May KNIFFIN in 1885.
A final thought: have you checked the Indiana death records to see if
Ella/Eleanor Brown might have returned to Indiana sometime after the death of
her husband?
