Hi, Additional information. The large production lace machines were devolved in England and for many years the had a corner on the industries. They would not allow any machines to be exported.but eventually one was exporter to France in Pieces as scrap metal.
Nottingham Eng. was the lace center of the world at one time.Most of the employees were from that town. Some of the employs name were Birch,
Talk,Barker, Duckett,a Frenchman names La Push,Berk. In Nottingham they have a lace museum which is very interesting. The lace machine were very complicate .They made a piece of lace about 20 feet long. It was generally separated in the cutting room into strips for ladies garments. It was processed by washing dyeing ,stretching and mending. The Mfg was done on first floor
and the cutting,stretching and mending was done on the second floor.
The machines had thousands of threads and hard to see. The workers used light to find them. They had big trouble if the Rats got into the threads. Ken
