Subject: Some Chapman information found!

Through the sister county list, Erie, I was able to get official
details of William Sawyer and Caroline Chapman's marriage in Erie
County, 1842. Caroline was indeed under 18 and had her father's
permission. So the date, 1816, given in her obit was probably nine or
ten years off. 1850 census had it right. She could still have been the
first white child born in Bellevue, but that's the least important.
Still some mysteries to solve but this certainly has helped. Where
Caroline is really buried is one. She also says her grandfather's name
was William. Wonder if he is the one who started a school in Huron in
1815?

Thanks to all who gave information and suggestions.

I came on just last year but my thanks to Judy also for her labor of
love.

Sending off my membership application to Huron County Chapter, OGS,
today.
